This Plot Graph gives children visual guidance for how to structure a narrative, encouraging them to think about what happens at the beginning, middle and end of their stories and introducing the concepts of ‘problem’, ‘climax’ and ‘resolution’.
This Plot Graph can be used to track stories that children have already read, developing their comprehension skills by asking them to identify different features of the narrative. It can also be used in the planning and drafting stage of their own writing and as a tool for editing stories that have been completed.

The Story-Makers Show was known as Puffin Virtually Live up until March 2019. The content and ambition of the show remains the same: to give every pupil the opportunity to engage with authors and illustrators in their own classroom using the power of the internet.
We’ve re-named Puffin Virtually Live so that it’s easier for new teachers to discover it as part of Puffin Schools and to acknowledge that the show now premieres on show day, rather than being streamed live.
